User Interface issue with LibreOffice File Open Dialog (modules) / Search Filter Box Fonts very large

I have isolated this problem only to LibreOffice. I can’t find any reference to a User Controllable parameter to adjust this font size.

I have an image of the issue to upload.

I am running LibreOffice on Windows 10 on a Dell XPS:

Hi all,

Didn’t know how to post an image… It has now been pasted to my original message.

At moment no idea, but this seems to be the Windows-search box, even if it is called by LibreOffice.
.
You could switch to the “own” dialogue wich LibreOffice also has, but this would not solve this problem.
.
If you use the same search box outside LibreOffice in Explorer, does it show another font-size?

Seeing that it is a Windows window, maybe this Microsoft question helps, Windows 10 file explorer’s navigation pane’s font size too large

Note that it is not LibreOffice File Open Dialogue; that can be enabled in Tools > Options > LibreOffice > General > Open/Save Dialogue Boxes.

[Edit]
It might be a potential bug in that version of Windows 10, I recall some font issues a while ago. Your version of Windows 10 has only 8 months of support left, see Windows 10 - release information | Microsoft Learn. Have you tried upgrading?

As the issue referenced by @EarnestAl hints, this might be related to multi-monitor systems - do you use several monitors, and do they use different scaling? LibreOffice is DPI-aware, but not capable of dealing with different DPIs on different monitors, and that could affect the DLLs it loads (even if it’s a system DLL).

I also though it might be a windows issue, but when I accessed any file open dialog box outside of LibreOffice it did not show the same symptom. It seems the problem occurs only within LibreOffice modules (Write, Calc, Impress etc.). I looked for this problem for Windows 10, but as with LibreOffice, there is nothing specific to the Search Box font. To the best of my knowledge I have had this issue as far back as the first 7.xx version of LibreOffice. I think there is a font selection problem or parameter setting that has become corrupted. I just don’t know where to look (registry, ini file, etc). But thanks so far.

Thank you Mike and Earnest… Between the comments from both of you, I had a look at the properties of OpenOffice (Correction!!! LibreOffice [it’s late at night here and I wasn’t paying attention]) (Compatibility / DPI settings). I played around with the High DPI scaling override. If the Override is set as in the image below. I don’t have the problem. If the override is set to “system” or “system (enhanced)” I get the weird large search pulldown. I will have to verify if there are other symptoms that have become an issue as a result of the change, for for now I am grateful for you pointing the way for me. Thanks! I think it is solved!

Oh - so that was OpenOffice after all, not LibreOffice? But you mentioned LibreOffice version properly…

Thanks Mike,

Corrected my naming error. Now it’s time to sleep.

Cheers,
Bob

Corrected my last posting… It was LibreOffice not OpenOffice. Thanks.

Last comment on this issue. I went back an reviewed all of the possible setting for High DPI scaling. The very last one is to TURN OFF the override entirely. Mike indicated that LibreOffice is DPI aware. As a result if the High DPI override is turned off entirely, LibreOffice should work as it was designed. Sure enough, this is the case. The enlarged Search Box is now normal sized. Thank you: @EarnestAl & @mikekaganski you have been very helpful.
