Using older profile

I’ve been using 7.2.2 Portable successfully for several years and want to install the latest full install version.

Can I still use my existing profile?

I’ve done some searching but haven’t found anything that deals with this situation.

Also, can I choose the profile location on a full install?

Thanks for the help.

OK I think i answered my second question. An option to define profile under ‘tools’.

Still have first question.

I would be inclined to let LibreOffice create a profile automatically and then copy over the individual folders that you want to keep from the old profile. That way you keep the original as a backup. See https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile

Yeah that’s the plan. I’ve looked at the article you referenced but my concern is the profile is from a version that’s so old maybe it’s not compatible anymore?

I’ll plan on installing anyway, but knowing what to expect helps.

Thanks for the link.

Maybe you’ve seen the \4\ in the path. This is a hint the format of the profile didn’t change (much) since version 4 of LibreOffice.
.
Also your version is not so old as numbers 7 and 25 imply: After 7.6.7 numbering “jumped” to a new scheme year.month 24.2
.
As you used a portable version of LibreOffice before the new installed one will NOT use parts of the old profile and you will still have your workable version of LibreOffice-portable.
.
I suggest the same approach as @EarnestAl to move only parts of the profile (for me: Macros and dictionary).
Then there is the question of altered menu or shortcuts. I learned here: if you customize your menu, LibreOffice will not add any new functions and keeps your menu. So you have to decide yourself.
.
Also think about dark mode. This came after your version of LibreOffice (in 7.5/7.6). If you stay on the “light” side, there should be no issues, if you want to try dark-mode I would avoid using the complete profile.
.
A general hint: You seem to stay on the same computer.
If you re-use a profile on another computer it may be a good idea to use the same drives and user-names to have (mostly) the same paths. Otherwise expect links, connections to serial letters and other paths to need re-working.
