Using Unusual characters

Hi!

Is there a way to use some unusual characters in Libre Writer?

I need an “AE” (this should be one character) and an “O” with a slash through it.

Can I do this and how?

Bruce

Yes, you can. Use Insert>Special characters menu.

Æ = U+C6

Ø = U+D8

To just explain the = U+C6, you can write the Æ by simply typing c6 then immediately pressing Alt+X

You could add it to Autocorrect and use the pattern :ae: to be replaced by Æ but it would be longer.

Thanks! This I can really use!

Thanks and feedback are always really appreciated but site rules require that answers are solutions to questions (contrary to a forum where you have a chronologically ordered conversation).

So, please, thank the contributor in a comment after his answer, then delete your “non-answer”.

by experimenting and noting what I got (with my German keyboard) I found out this:

This is highly dependent on OS and keyboard configuration. @lbrucegray didn’t mention his OS nor his system language (and optional installed variants). Please, edit your question to add your OS name; this will turn your table into something really useful.
