Hi Everyone,
I’ve been using Libre Office for a few years now (just to write letters) and am vey happy with it.
I run Windows 7 64 bit and am very, very happy with it and, at 79, I’m not going to change.
However, every time I try to download a new version of Libre Office there have been minor difficulties, but this time something new has cropped up.
When I successfully downloaded ver. 7.4.6. X 64msi. the new icon appeared on my screen BUT…
The procedure wiped my 7.2 ver., and then disappeared from my Programs list.
The only program that remains on my Programs List is, ver. 7.1.03
Does this mean that the progrmmers are now only catering for Win 11 and kindly reverted my program back to a version of Libre Office that is compatible with Win 7?
So long as it works ,I’m happy with any Libre Office, but I’d like to know why this has happened.
John
Your question is not related to the database front end Base. It is a generic problem. So, please, retag as common, install, windows-7 and remove base.
This will draw attention of more contributors while base focuses only on database issues.
@novicejohn31 , hi John,
…and then disappeared from my Programs list
What do you mean, the taskbar (usually at the bottom of the screen) or the desktop?
Basically it is a function of your operating system how and where to see the icons of programs.
Some you have to set yourself.
Does this mean that the programmers are only responsible for Win 11…
Not at all, all Windows systems from Window 7 - SP1 are supported.
System Requirements - Windows
It is normal for an install of LibreOffice to replace the previous Version. And earlier versions should therefore not exist, unless somebody woulddo something special, like adding a portable version to the menu or a prvious reoval failed for some reason.
.
I’d try first to uninstall that 7.1 version directly from windows control center for software. Whe this works try to add 7.4 from msi-installer again…
Many thanks for your help.
It seems that I posted this thread in the wrong section, for which I apologize.
The best solution to my problem seems to me to be, for me to withdraw, re-phrase and replace my question, in the correct section.
Hrbrgr, you’ve answered my main worry, that of Win 7 still being supported. Many thanks.
This site does not have different sections (only languages). Here the tags at the top help to find all topics concerning Windows7 or install and “Base” is the database-component.
