I’m not sure the terminology to use but my searches have turned up empty.
I’d like to create a writer document, where I can view it in at least 2 ways. Right now I have a bulleted list and I’d like view one to be only the top level and view two the entire document.
Think of having one software document where the menu instructions are available in all views but the installation instructions vary with the OS.

No, I could use Window->New Window to get 2 windows to the document.
Maybe, would the printed document no show the collapsed sections?
Yes! I think that it! A universal document where what is displayed or printed depends on some value.
For my software document example, Debian would get one value, other OSes different values.
