Wayland Kubuntu ... Only 1 version of LibreOffice works with no crash... how to download this version?

Hi i have tried many versions of LibreOffice and all have the same problem on my Kubuntu 26.04 wayland

Random crashes on exit of Writer … it does not happen every time !

I always know which tested version will crash as when opened, you get a flash of one window and then the actual LibreOffice writer window.

The version that works does not have this and opens as normal straight to the LibreOffice writer window
This was downloaded via ppa.

As at some stage the PPA will change I want to make sure I have a backup of the one that works, so i need this one.

Version: 26.2.2.2 (X86_64)

Build ID: 620(Build:2)

CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 7.0; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3

Locale: en-GB (en_GB.UTF-8); UI: en-US

Ubuntu package version: 4:26.2.2.2-0ubuntu1

Calc: threaded

Where can I download this version ?

Thanks

You have a discrepancy between you desktop manager and LO:

VCL: gtk3 is valid for GNOME or other GTK+ based desktops. KUbuntu comes with KDE Plasma.

Unless your package manager has also installed the GTK+ library, you should install package libreoffice-kf6 (this is the name for Fedora; may vary across distributions).

Please see answer i gave to Villeroy

thanks

This might be the culprit. Do a test, open a terminal and start a crashing version of LibreOffice like this:
SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen libreoffice25.8

I tried this on a default ‘try kubuntu’ iso 26.04 … so it runs from ram and so it did not affect my working version
.

It seemed a little better, but when i tried … SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen libreoffice

but when i tried … libreoffice --writer I saw a black border version then a normal version ?

.

Strangely this has selected VCL: x11

Its installed Version information was as follows …
Version: 26.2.2.2 (X86_64)
Build ID: 620(Build:2)
CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 7.0; UI render: default; VCL: x11
Locale: en-US (C.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Ubuntu package version: 4:26.2.2.2-0ubuntu1
Calc: threaded
.

But when I opened as normal by clicking an a writer .odt file
It once again did the open a window, then fractionally later opened the correct window
.

But this time the installed setup was …
Version: 26.2.2.2 (X86_64)
Build ID: 620(Build:2)
CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 7.0; UI render: default; VCL: kf6 (cairo+wayland)
Locale: en-US (C.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Ubuntu package version: 4:26.2.2.2-0ubuntu1
Calc: threaded

.

i have not changed anything and not rebooted, the only difference is the way u advised and then the standard was of opening ?
