I don’t think that LO has a specific recommendation. I can personally recommend Thunderbird. I used it before, and wasn’t all that impressed. However, their new release is great. It even handles exchange servers just fine. My only complaint is that you have to actually train the junk mail filter in order for it to function well, however I spent no more than 5 minutes going through emails and marking them as either A) Junk or B) Not Junk and the filter was working very accurately.
Now, Thunderbird also comes with an integrated calendar and I’m sure you can get a to-do list addon.
