what does (remote) mean?

Hi libreoffice 5.1.6.2, Mint Sylvia. Impress was used to open a new blank presentation which crashed. When the document was recovered and opened it had the word (remote) on title bar and everything was slow. What does this mean? Was it uploading the document to some server or had it visible online?

Don’t remember doing anything to connect to any server just started up a new presentation. Can’t rule out clicking a stray button though

IIRC it means that the document is opened from a server, for instance Google drive, onedrive or another cloud service. It’s not a good idea to edit a remote file when the connection is slow or unreliable. You also shouldn’t edit files from a usb stick. First copy a file that you want to edit to the hard drive of your computer, edit and save that, then copy the saved file to where you got it from.

I did not connect to any server as far as I know. I just opened a new blank presentation from impress to paste stuff into and then it closed down because it wasn’t responding. In autorecovery it pops up with the (remote) tag. What could have caused this. Rather not have libreoffice randomly uploading stuff to random servers if it can be helped…

That sounds weird. Please add information about operating system, computer type etc.
