What extra features do you get if you save the document as .odp vs saving it as another format?
Very good answer. I also don’t now. .odp file take more memory volume that .doc, and less “compatible” than .doc - than I save all files in .doc
But may by some advantages are exists.
Just to clarify, are you referring to the format LibreOffice uses to save its documents (.odt) or the format it uses to save its presentations (.odp)?
Open format → you are really owner of your data.

As @Jean-BaptisteFAURE points out – using an open format means that you’re a lot more in control of your data.
There are a few other benefits to using the ODP file format, including:
- ODP (Open Document Presentation) is the native file format for LO Impress. This means that it will consistently be the best-supported file format by Impress, and will have the best import/export filters.
- As a native file format, ODP will generally support the largest set of possible file features, often offering options and formatting not offered by PPT, PPTX, etc…
- ODP (and all ODF formats) are stored as compressed archives of XML, image, and video files. This can allow power users more flexibility of editing and/or storing data
