What is the default font for Calc from original set up of LO

Having extraordinary trouble keeping the “default” font across spreadsheets. Calc seems to have set itself up with a different font for “text” in cells as opposed to numbers born from formulae.

The font it uses, partly, is Noto Sans (italicised). There is no such font ?? As I understand it this is the significance of the italicised name, i.e. the font does not exist and a substitute (which??) is used. The font field in the menu remains blank a lot of the time.

Can someone please recommend a font that I can install that will be the only font used in the spreadsheets by Calc. In other words a Sans Serif font that I can set in styles that will be maintained as default in all upgrades of the program.

No - because fonts being used are part of the format definition used in a file (are “file-specific”). In other words: If someone sends you a file using Noto Sans for some formats and you don’t have that installed, you see the font name italicized in the font name box. Or one could state: There is no "the only font used in the spreadsheets at all. There is a default -yes, but could be overridden by the creator of a file and the new font settings become part of the file.

(By the way, the default font in Calc is "*Liberation Sans*" and the font is delivered with the installation pakage)

OK “Opaque”, thanks for that. Liberation Sans is what I suspected but for some reason it was changed, while I recognise I must have done something I am completely unaware what. I only started to fiddle around with the style sheet and default style and default font after the font formatting took on a life of its own. This was to try and get it back to what it was.
