Thinking of using it for a historical society that has old donated computer equipment. Are charts of older versions and the operating systems they require available?
New computers are so cheap that your organization would be better off simply buying a new one and using LibreOffice 5.4.6 Download LibreOffice | LibreOffice - Free Office Suite - Based on OpenOffice - Compatible with Microsoft.
I swear people “donate” outdated electronics simply to avoid the dump fees most municipalities charge.
You are going to have far too many hassles dealing with old, outdated equipment. You are not saving yourself anything. And based on your questions, the designated “IT person” (you) doesn’t know that much about computers, operating systems, or software. Seriously, save yourself the trouble and buy a new computer. This is not going to be worth it.
Have anticipated problems with older equipment, but we are really on a shoestring budget and must get started cataloging with what we’ve got.
Have also found the place to download older versions. It is Index of /libreoffice/old
