My cursor is currently (it wasn’t before, and I don’t know what was changed) a dot with an arrow on one of the sides (it changes) and when I click, instead of my typer-area-whatever (the blinking vertical line) moving to the closest open space, it creates a bunch of spaces up to the exact point where my cursor was when I clicked.
How do I fix this?

Click Tools > Options > LibreOffice Writer > Formatting Aids and untick the box Direct Cursor
Or
Click Edit > Direct Cursor Mode to toggle on or off
