When I click on update icon on menu bar(Apple computer) , version 24 is shown

My current version of Libre Office is 7.6.7.2.

I’ve been using the stable versions(7.X). When the update icon appears on the menu bar & I click it, it tells me that version 24 is available. I think that it was Wikipedia that showed the time line. The stable version(7.6) ends & right next to it is version 24 on the same time line. What’s going on?

I wish that I could insert the picture of the time line but I can’t.

Will there be only one version of Libre Office from now on, that is, version 24.X?

Can I install version 24 over version 7.6.7.2 without stability problems?

Update icon won't go away after updating

Maybe there is a bit of confusion for the change on how to name the versions, Please have a look at: Name of versions Release Plan
