When I print an envelope, it prints ink in what should be white space all over the envelope

I print an envelope and in addition to printing the to and from addresses, it puts stripes of ink over the entirety of the rest of the face of the envelope.

This is a giant waste of ink, and also makes the envelope look extremely strange and thus become useless.

How do I fix this problem?

If you print to pdf does the same thing show up in the pdf file? (assuming you can print to pdf). Trying that may help isolate the problem. Are other types of prints OK?
