where do I find the 'tick' symbol ?

I’m trying to put a tick on an item dealt with.

Is this a question about inserting special symbols in Writer, Calc, Draw, Impress or Base? Then which component?

Is it a question about form widgets where you want visual feedback after user clicking the widget?
