Why can't I have a separate "writer"

I use Open Office and Libre Office to write. That’s about it…
But as far as I know there is no way to just open the writer.

Every time I want to write any thing, even a short note, I sit and wait while this “do every thing” monster loads up, then I once again have to tell it what I want to do, before I finally get to write some thing.
This “do every thing” mentality is OK, but in the process, they should consider the option of “simplicity”

Some of use don’t want to do 10 things at a time.
BTW when will they have a feed back window for some thing besides “bugs”

In windows you can. In Windows explorer navigate to Program Files(x86)\LibreOffice 3.6\Program then find swriter.exe, right-click sendto, Desktop (create shortcut). Now you have an icon for writer on the desktop with which you can start writer only.

The (x86) in the path is only for 64-bit Windows.

Or simply go to Start - Programs - LibreOffice X.XX (where X.XX - is your office version) - LibreOffice Writer - right click on it and select Send to - Desktop

You are right @Timon1. I always take the longer road  it’s better for my heart.

Why only a way to do this in Windows? Why not also a way to do it on a Mac?
