When I downloaded, then tried to install LibreOffice 4.2.6, I get an error message. It says “This installation package cannot be opened. Contact the application vender to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package.” I have windows 7 ultimate home version, if that helps. My comp is a 64 bit. I do not know a lot about software, but if more info is needed, I can look it up, but I don’t know what is necessary to fix this problem. Thanks for your time to help me with this!

What is the exact file name of the download? What is the size of your downloaded file? How did you start the installation? ---- I am sure here are enough specialist who will help you to get up an running.
I guess is the download file is incomplete. What’s the size?
