why can't I select print quality in the print dialogue

I’m using MacOS 10.11.6 with a Canon Pixma MX922 ink jet printer. When the print dialogue box opens to select print options, there are no options for print quality. The quality I seem to be getting appears to be a “Fast” mode (lowest quality) altho there’s no notice anywhere stating that. This is the only app I have that does not offer various print quality options. What gives?

On my system Linux-Mint with LibO 4.4, 5.1 and 5.2 and using HP and Brother printers the print quality can be found with LibreOffice under FILE > PRINTER SETUP > or FILE > PRINT > and then under PROPERTIES > DEVICE > PRINT QUALITY. (NORMAL / DRAFT / BEST / PHOTO QUALITY depending on printer)
I assume your MacOs with Canon will be similar.

Thanks, petermau. There is no option, at the OS level, to control print quality, at least on my setup. The individual apps seem to be the critters involved with that option as all my other apps, with the exception of Libreoffice, offer that control. So, I’m assuming that I need to look to Libreoffice for the solution. No?

  1. Update the printer software to latest version.
  2. Update scanner/printer drivers for your printer.
  3. Reset the printer.
  4. Restart your computer and try again.
  5. Check Canon MX922 Manual for more support.
