Why did my message disappear

This has happened to me twice. I’m typing along and the message disappears. Once I have 18 pages done and today I had 4 pages done. I’d like to know if I’m doing something wrong or if it’s your program. I see it has happened to others. Otherwise I am happy with your product.

if it’s your program.

No - it is definitely not our program, bceause we, the people you addressed your question to, are users of LibreOffice just like you.

And you saved your work to which device / filename? Are you using a local disk, some cloud service, a USB device …? Which file format do you use to store your documents - .odt or any other ?

Please use **[edit](https://ask.libreoffice.org/t/why-did-my-message-disappear/58911)** to enhance the details of your question and while you are at it, please also provide information about your operating system and LibreOffice version (it's always a good idea to add info from `Help -> About LibreOffice` to all questions).

Most likely you mde a typing error. If you, instead of pressing Shift+A, pressed Ctrl+A, which selects all text in your document. If you press a key after that, it will replace the selected text by your new letter. Happens to lots of people. You can recover it by pressing Ctrl+Z twice.

Or you mean to say that a saved file doesn’t contain any text. Or yet something hing else. If you want us to help you solve your problem, you have to tell us exactly what the problem is. Otherwise you leave us guessing.

The “disappearing text” problem has happened to me as well, especially when typing fast, and I never understood what caused it except to recognize that it was probably a typing mistake on my part. The “Shift+A/Ctrl+A” explanation seems very logical is probably the source of my problem, as I have had other occasional problems involving the right-hand Shift and Control keys. Thank you, @anon87010807, and I will try to be more careful in future.
