I get a error message saying I need a JRE to run this task. I have downloaded the newest 64 bit JRE and I can’t find it in the download file so I can’t associate it in LIbreOffice Writer. Is anyone else having this problem. If so is there a solution?
And you have got a 64 bit LibreOffice too? What is your operating system?
… and also downloading JRE isn’t enough - it must be installed to be usable by LibreOffice (with correct bitness - see @Regina’s comment; and for some OSes (macOS), JDK could be required). What do you mean by “and I can’t find it in the download file so I can’t associate it in LIbreOffice Writer”?
And also: for which task? I.e., at which moment do you see the warning? Do you have some extension using Java? Or possibly an extension using Python? (there’s a glitch wrt that.)
You mention neither LO version nor bit-version nor OS.
You do NOT mention which LO component gives you an error about JRE.
Nor have you answered any of the comments.
Do you actually want your question to be answered?
Install the correct JRE under Windows 10
The above link is on the LO Wiki; there are also sections for MacOS .
The general process is that you:-
- Install a JRE in your OS (Operating System).
- Install LO
LO will then recognise the version(s) of Java that you have installed in the OS & auto-associate LO with them. You can also perform step #2 after installing a new JRE / JDK in the OS. Refer to the links above for the steps & wrinkles involved in doing that.
