Why do some footnote numbers look like hyperlinks?

I recently switched to the latest version from 7.0 and noted that some footnote numbers appear like orange hyperlinks:

In the exported PDF all footnote numbers behave as hyperlinks though.

Why would only some of them look like hyperlinks and not all of them?

How do I make them all look like plain black text, not hyperlinks?

Myth resolved: those orange underlines were tracked changes. Got rid of them using this solution.
