I’ve been using Calc a lot for college assignments, making tables for data. The problem is, I’m supposed to keep a consistent number of significant figures for all of my categories. So whenever I use the built-in functions to calculate (for example) standard deviation, I have to copy and paste the number provided in, and then round to significant figures. Please, let me know if there is a way to automatically round to significant figures. There wasn’t in OpenOffice.
The problem is that fairly often when I finish entering my numbers and go to the next cell, it will cut out a digit. Sometimes it’s a digit in between two identical ones, like it thinks I accidentally put “969” when I meant to put in “99”. One real example is when I round 0.0809302952 to .0809303, what I get is 0.080933. The worst thing about this is sometimes I don’t notice until I’ve gone through quite a few numbers, which makes it a lot more work to go back and undo. The rounding is already monotonous enough without having to go back and re-do most of them. Does anyone know what “feature” is causing this?
