Why does LibreOffice need iTunes closed when installing?

I just updated to 4.02, and the LibreOffice installer prompted me to close iTunes so it could update files in use.

Why would LibreOffice be messing with anything iTunes is using? Hopefully I’m forgetting something, but it seems like neither program does anything the other would care about, so I’m at least somewhat nervous about why LibreOffice would be messing with it.

Anyone know? Thanks!

Good question and good thought-I should have said my OS! That would make more sense, but no, I’m running 64-bit Windows 8 and the newest version of iTunes. The prompt appeared to be part of the installed, if I’m remembering right.

Hi @Wolfleaf,

Did your OS give you any indication as to which files the installer needed to update?

If you’re on a Mac, there might be some kind of integration between iTunes and the OS – I believe that Apple has been integrating iTunes further into the core OS in subsequent versions of OSX.

(Speaking of: What OS are you using?)
