My current version is 6.3.2 for a Windows 10 PC. This problem started two months ago after I downloaded a new version, maybe 6.2.2.3. I suppose the fact that LO Thesaurus loads for at least one language setting is a clue to the problem of why it doesn’t load for most language settings.
May be you haven’t installed the respective language files (language support is an optional feature of the installer) If you need additional languages, start the installer again and select Change / Modify (not sure about the term in the English speaking installer) and select the required additional languages.
Opaque, my Windows 10 PC LO has the English - USA language setting and many other English language setting that return “no alternatives found”. I see several possibilities.

Here’s another clue:
My wife has a Mac. This is her version and build info.
Version: 6.2.4.2
Build ID: 2412653d852ce75f65fbfa83fb7e7b669a126d64
CPU threads: 4; OS: Mac OS X 10.12.6; UI render: default; VCL: osx;
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI-Language: en-US
Calc: threaded
Her Mac Thesaurus works like a charm.
Anyway, I have no idea what’s causing my LO WIN 10 problem. Any and all advice or speculation will be greatly appreciated.
It’s of more interest to have the same information from the failing Windows 10 than from the working Mac OS X … but anyway, please show/check C:\Program Files\LibreOffice\share\extensions\
. There are several sub-directories starting with dict-
+ 2-letter code and this will show which dictionaries are installed (also check the contents of the sub-directories, if there are really files, esp. th_<langcode>_c2.dat
files).
