Why does my text change to Italics when enclosed in forward slashes ( / / )

I use LibreOffice 6.4.7.2 (x64) currently on Windows 10.

When I enclose text in slashes (/) the text attribute changes to Italics and the slashes are removed.

It feels like I have changed settings in the application but I don’t have a clue where to start looking to see what I have to change to make this stop.

check Tools -> AutoCorrect -> AutoCorrect Options ... -> Tab: Options and disable
