It attempted to open it with a password. When I gave it none, it opened it anyway, with DRAW instead of WRITE. The file resides on a FAT drive if that makes any difference.
It’s on a WINDOWS 8.1 OS getting ready for WINDOWS 10. It’s obviously US English.
Does it happen only with one specific file or with all?
Oddly, it appears to be treating it as a PDF. Just because it is named “whatever.doc” doesn’t mean that it is a DOC file.
Have a look at it inside a plain-text editor. Are the 1st 4 chars “%PDF”?
