I’ve been using Impress on my PC and editing a presentation is extremely slow. Every time I try to change the text on a slide, it takes minutes (sometimes many) to the change to appear on the screen, sometimes the program becomes unresponsive while it’s “thinking”.
(And I have yet to find a way to edit a presentation while it’s being displayed, which is something that I’ve grown used to doing at work where I use Microsoft Office.)
What’s you LibreOffice version and OS?, having the same issue with a new file?
I’m having the same problem. Probably different OS & LibreOffice version. (mine is 5.2.3.3 and Windows 7 Pro 32-bit). Not responding while saving file and quit the program with saving file.
Enabling-disabling hardware acceleration and OpenGL not really help much.
Please try resetting the user profile, sometimes solves strange issues.

Usually it’s enough renaming/deleting the file “user/registrymodifications.xcu”, it affects all the options in Menu/Tools/Options, and the files “user/basic/dialog.xlc” and “scrip.xlc” are overwritten, additionally custom colors in “user/config/standard.soc” are lost.
I have a similar problem with LibreOffice impress 6.1.1.2, Windows 10, on a laptop with 8th-generation i7 intel processor. The problem happens even in Safe Mode. It takes about 30 seconds to open a presentation, and it takes several seconds just to move from slide to slide. The same presentations can be edited smoothly in LibreOffice for Ubuntu, even on a much weaker computer. Why is Impress on Windows so slow???
