Wider formula bar

Hello.

The formula bar in version 7.4 of LibreOffice is narrower than the formula bar in version 7.3 and it makes the formula not read correctly.
Of course, I know that if I click on the triangle next to it, it expands, but isn’t there a way to make the formula wider without clicking on that triangle?

I think what was meant here is that the Input Line is a) positioned a little too low by 1-2 pixels, and b) is not tall enough to fit characters. I’ve seen that with loaded documents, both misalignments are gone once F2 to edit a cell was pressed (can be followed by just Escape to close the cell again). Now that reminds me I added a comment to a feature that implemented storing the number of lines used for tdf#99708 but nothing happened. Maybe worth a separate bug report now.

I mean this bug:

Exactly. Thanks.

As long as you have not yet expanded the formula bar, you get a double arrow at the bottom with the mouse.
Drag the formula bar to the desired size.

Thanks for pointing me to the solution Hrbgr, but in my case the double-arrow only seems to appear if I HAVE expanded the formula bar.

erAck describes the problem exactly. Here’s another vote to fix it ASAP since both workarounds only seem to function for the current Calc session, which is annoying.

Have you tried 7.5.1.2? [Edit - corrected version number]
According to Bug 151682 - Calc: Editing area in Formula bar appears cropped the reduced size was fixed for 7.5.1

Yes, but not the whole bug report; my apologies. I’ve just installed OpenSUSE Linux which includes LO 7.4.3.2, so I guess the LO fix probably won’t appear until the next OpenSUSE version is released.

It is possible to upgrade LO to 7.5.1 and disable 7.4.x updates, but I suppose that might break other packages.
