The drop down window to specify operating system on the update for Libre Office 5.7 does not list Windows 10. Should I install the new version even though I have windows 10?
Hello,
The selection for Windows is not by OS version but by bit: Windows x86
is for 32-bit LO & Windows x86_64
is for 64-bit LO. For requirements see this page →
Get Help / System Requirements. OS versions are listed there.
Have no idea what this means, and going to the links specified does not help
@FreebieJ Sorry but this is already pretty basic OS type information. 32 & 64 bit Operating Systems determine the type of programs you can run & among other things how much memory can be accessed within the system. Using a 64-bit OS with more memory is typically faster than 32 bit. Some systems allow you to run 32-bit programs within a 64-bit OS.
If you don’t understand or know your OS, not sure what to tell you.
If you are using a 64-bit OS then you can use any LO version. If it is an OS older than Win 7 then version 5.7 will work but you will not be able to upgrade to a newer version.
