"Windows installer is not localized" - bug (51038) still exists?

Just like in description of fdo#51038 installer does not start with correct language.

Win xp pro sp3 EN-US Locale: Finnish

Trying to start the installer of 4.1.0 with command msiexec /i LibreOffice_4.1.0_Win_x86.msi TRANSFORMS=:2057

…where 2057 = en-UK. Why can’t en-US (1033) be used? For us living outside the US it is just another locale. According to the bug documentation the bug should be fixed, but it is not. Am I missing something? Would be nice to try LibreOfiice, but cannot get pass the installer. Installing in Finnish and changing the language (which probably is possible?) is NOT an option.

According to both the cited fdo#51038 (which has not yet been resolved) and the related fdo#63827 this cannot be fixed in the MSI. You can however use an administrator account and set the locale accordingly (workaround) as indicated in the second bug.

Hmmm… so, I need to change locale for installation. OK. What happens after installation when I change the locale back? I mean, does LibreOffice stay in English and secondly, will all the other things in my XP configuration return nicely to the state they were?

BTW the Swede in #63827 also said, that:

“…For me the installer just launches in Swedish with no provision to select an alternate language. Even though the system locale is set to Swedish I have actually changed everything I can on the administrator account to English but I still get a Swedish installer.”

Don’t worry about installation. Just use the Finish version of installer and when product is installed user interface is going to be in en-US (if you downloaded en-US version).

But you probably don’t know, but in LibreOffice you can change the language to what ever you like AFTER install by: Tools | Options | Language Settings | Languages | Language of User Interface and set language to: English (USA). Se Locale language as ever you like: e.g. English (USA) and restart LibreOffice.
