Writer crashes (or hangs) when I insert or edit an equation

Hello,

I am having a problem with Writer that keeps crashing and recovering the file everytime I insert or edit an equation. It used to work fine, but I think it started to happen since I switched to a new Macbook with apple silicon.

I am using Monterey 12.3.1 and Libre office 7.3.2 installed with brew. I have also tried:

  • downgrading to 7.2.6 and installing directly from the website
  • deleting the Libreoffice user folder in Application Support

and I have the same issue.

Any suggestion? Anyone else having the same problem?

There seems to be a problem with LibreOffice running on newer Mac versions, see On Mac: LibreOffice keeps crashing As far as I can see it’s not clear yet what causes this issue.

The one setting that I think has most improved working with LO on macOS is turning OFF

Load/Save > General
Save AutoRecovery information every: [X] minutes

Freezings still occur but a bit less often.

Thanks. It was already disabled actually. I’ll try with an older version.
