When I select writer it defaults to large font. I reduce it to 6 but character is still .75 inch high. I reinstalled with repair option; no help. I deleted Libre Office 4.4.5.2, which is latest. I installed Libre Office but writer still defaults to large font.

The LO/OO setup is contained within the Profile folders. It is a constant source of LO corruption. Unfortunately, uninstalling the program leaves the Profile untouched. Try the following:
Restore a Default Profile (the actions below are easily reversible). When you uninstall/update LO/OO it does NOT uninstall/delete the profile. The profile contains a user’s setup.
“If you notice any strange behaviour on LibreOffice, or simply it fails to start, the first thing to try is to reset the user profile.”
- Shut down LO/OO (also quickstarter)
- Find your profile
- Rename the dir
- Restart LO and/or Quickstarter
(on restart, LO will re-create the Profile directory + contents, using full defaults)
- (menu):Tools→Options→LibreOffice→Fonts
(default font size is at bottom)
