Writer document reloaded without a week's worth of changes

I have a Lenovo Linux Cinnamon Mint system using LibreOffice 7.3.7.2.

Working on a docx file that has been open for a week on my computer and was last saved this morning before we went to Fourth of July picnic. On return, the files on my system were all closed and it attempted to restore them but the version of the file it opened was from a week ago and the 30,000 words added since that version are gone.

I generally save every time I get up from the computer using CTRL S. And I’ve been using this system for two years without a glitch. Is there any way to restore the missing text?

How to open files from MS-Office 2007 or 2010 (.DOCX, .XLSX,…)?

Have a look inside to “Backup”:

Thank you. That’s some very good information to prevent recurrence.
