Many options in edit menu are greyed out. Also text won’t highlight for drag and drop.

Can you provide the LibreOffice version and operating system you are using? This happen in any document?
Check if menu Edit - Edit mode has a mark to the left.

I looked at other documents as you suggested and it has just started working! I tried on a document from 3yrs ago and drag and drop worked after a few tries, the menu the offered copy/paste etc. It is now working on current one too.
If its ok, I’ll get back to you if it stops again.
