How do I remove the small box with the arrow through it?
Your question is a total mystery. What do you mean? Edit your question (= modify it; don’t use a comment) to fully reword it with details. And don’t forget to mention OS name, LO version and save format.
When editing an odt file a small square with a double-headed, vertical arrow in the middle of the square appears. The first I noticed it was when I downloaded version 7.6.2 (not sure of the version) and then it still happens with version 7.6.2.1. Not sure, but it seems to be associated with the whitespace toggle. Next time I see it, I’ll try to take a photo and email it to you.

And the 7.6.2 messed with the table of contents. I found a work around for that.
Please describe the TOC mess. It is probably something different. It may be related to the way you format your headings.
Uncertain but the box with the arrow may be a symbol used in Draw
sorry for all the emails. The question should have been: How do I HIDE the small box with the two-headed vertical arrow down the middle.
Last email I swear. This is a photo of the box with an arrow, taken 9/29/23. (Forgot I had it, happens with Senior Citizens).
