Writer not saving font size

If I write something then save it and close the document, the next time I open it I find it has reverted to a completely different font and font size. This is annoying and wastes time. Also the size it reverts to is 10pt, much too small to read easily even on my desktop monitor.

Having checked the document properties it says .txt. So as suggested, I will start saving as ODT. Many thanks. This problem only started after I recently updated to the latest version.

Update your question: click on … below it, then on the “pencil” icon. modify it to mention OS name, LO version and save format. The latter is the most important. What you describe suggests you’re saving .txt, i.e. plain text without formatting information.

For better diagnostic, attach a sample file.

Is it also written in Liberation Mono or other monospaced font? Then probably the document is saved as .txt. That is a format that cannot hold any formatting or other information. Save As .odt format to retain applied formatting.
