If you experience such “shift”, you probably align and format your footer with space characters.
By default, header and footer are respectively formatted by paragraph styles Header and Footer (how surprising!)
These styles come with default tab stops set in the middle and right of the page (within the margin-cleared area). This allows you to have three segments of text:
- initial text is aligned left on the left margin
- after a
Tab
character, text is center-aligned in the middle
- after a second
Tab
character, text is right-aligned on the right margin.
Consequently your footer could look like :
Title or author <tab ><tab> <Page number field>
There is presently no way to define custom field format but the afore described method avoids your inconvenience.
