Writer Printing Problems - macOS

macOS Sequoia 15.7.3
Libre Office Version: 25.8.4.2 (X86_64)
Build ID: 290daaa01b999472f0c7a3890eb6a550fd74c6df

I’m trying to print Writer documents via a wifi connection to my EPSON printer.

The process is very variable. Some documents print promptly, some are very slow and some won’t print untill I turn off the printer and turn it back on again and reset the whole printing process.

I suspect it relates to one or more document settings as this problem occurs with documents originating from other PCs, usually written in word under MS Windows.

Any suggestions as to which document settings might be causing this?

Thank you.

Click LibreOffice > Preferences > Load/Save > General and untick Load printer settings with the document and see if that speeds up the process. It might be that the operating system is waiting for the network printer that the document was last printed to; if it isn’t available then it will wait for a timeout (2 minutes on Windows) before responding.

What do the documents contain?
Define slow.
For me, speed over the LAN has always been pretty variable on macOS, but I’ve always put that down to the generally poor quality of macOS printer drivers, which has become even more inconsistent since the switch to a cups only subsystem. I have 2 different network printers in one office , a HP Pagewide Pro MFC and a Kyocera FS , and a Brother MFC in another office. All of them print documents from LO on macOS at about the same speed, with a slight edge going to the HP.

That seems possible - 2 minutes or so is the sort of delay before printing. I’ll give is a try.

Thanks,

Just straight text documents - no images, fields or anything complicated.

Slow is 2 or 3 minutes to never. Restartng the printer and/or cancelling the document print sometimes clears it although may need to be repeated.

I think EarnestAl might be right - I’ll test …
