Altsearch produces an error!
I am using
LibreOffice version Version: 7.1.4.2 (x64)
OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19042;

Altsearch is developed by an independent party. Bugs should be reported there, not here. I tested with version 1.4.2 on Libre 7.1.2,1, and on 7.1.4.2, no error reported on replacing \p with a space.
Thank you for your replies. Unfortunately “\p” gives me the message “search key not found”.
Other earlier replies on the forum pointed me to the extension AltSearch which does not work on my set up.
I have now found typing a “$” in Find with a"Space" in Replace is providing a partial solution.
I am learning and I will get there.
Make sure you really have paragraph marks Enter in your document and not line breaks Shift+Enter. Enable View>Formatting Marks to see the difference.
