Writer UI suddenly turned to light mode after opening Impress; cannot revert

I was working on a document in LibreOffice Writer with dark mode enabled, such that the entire UI was dark, the page was black, and the text was white. I opened an unrelated presentation in Impress from my file system, and all of a sudden, all the UX elements of Writer went completely white. According to the “Appearance” tab in Options, I’m still in dark mode, but I cannot change these elements to be dark again. This has the added side effect of making my text black, creating black-on-black, which is incredibly difficult to read. How do I enable the total dark mode again? And how come opening Impress might have triggered this?

Currently on the Flatpak version on Kubuntu 22.04.5

Here’s a screenshot of what Writer looks like right now:

Edit: Unfortunately, closing and reopening only helped so much:

Safe Mode

I would try loading one of the pre-built themes in Appearance, Dark Grey might suit you.

If that doesn’t improve the situation, then follow the options in this post, New Writer loads in Dark Mode - #3 by vsfoote

I appreciate the responses! In the end, I had to make a custom theme that explicitly made the text color white, the page color black, and other UI elements dark grey as well. I forgot to update this post when I did it, so I don’t remember the exact details, but if someone else has this issue, I suppose that’s where I would start!
