.xtlx file is corrupt and cannot be repaired

Been using this same file once a month for the past 6 months in Libre Office. It gets updated and then saved with a unique name each month. Today, none of these files created by Libre office are no longer opening. Instead a corrupt file message appears and it cannot be fixed. File extension has always been .xltx. The file originally was created with Excel but has been working for 6 months in LibreOffice
Any ideas?

Compatibility problem?

Thank you very much.

No, as in “No details provided.”
.
No version of LibreOffice named, no information on updates (during last month, if you use this only once a month). No mention of OS or security system. No info, if LibreOffice reads other files… No info where the files are stored (cloud/network access problems).
.
You can start and try safe mode of LO, test opening a copy of the file(s) on another computer, check contents yourself (modern Excel and Calc files are zip-archives), compare files with backup (you have a backup?). Maybe you will get an idea in the process…

Thoughts

xltx is the filename extension for ooxml spreadsheet templates. Saving work in progress as a template will usually not make a good workflow. Should not corrupt any file, but using a foreign format for saving and wrong file type for work file does introduce an extra level of potential error.

Not sure whether the file locking mechanisms used by Excel and Calc are compatible, but that should only come into play if you have Excel and LibreOffice installed on the same computer.

More explicit analysis requires actual file sample. Please upload if possible.
