Zotero seems integrated but I can't get a citation to actually insert

Hi --I’m first-day user, so thanks in advance for your patience.

I’m on a Mac running Sonoma 14.6.1. I start Zotero and my Zotero library is open. I then start LibreOffice 25.2.0.3 and open a new document in Writer. I see the Zotero options bar at the upper left (Add/Edit Citation, etc.). But when I position the cursor next to a word in the document and click Add/Edit Citation – nothing happens. Zip.

In fact, nothing happens when I click any of the Zotero buttons in the Writer controls.

What will make this work?

This may be a trivial suggestion.
I had the same problem when first running LO writer with Zotero.
Make sure you have Java (JDK) for MacOS installed. In my case, I needed not only to restart both programmes, i.e. LO Writer and Zotero but to restart the computer. LO often doesn’t seem to shut down completely when you close it.
However, after restart, everything worked fine. Hope this helps.
