While testing according to @ajittoz, I just by chance tried to cut a word with normal format followed by a word with italic format separated by a single space, and pasted it in the position where the italic format was set. Voila! the first one with normal format became italic! If pasted to place where the normal format was set, it’s printed as they were (normal + italic).
I don’t know if this also happened in version 5.x.
