how do I format a paragraph to be indented and word wrapped under the indent?

I have read the documentation and tried to use Styles and Format and cannot achieve the result I need. In the questions for LO, the typing under the comment is the style I want. The entire writer documentation uses this (All the NOTE sections are like this.). For some reason, I have not been able to accomplish this. I feel like I am missing a simple solution. I’d appreciate any help.

Thanks,
Linda

I have attempted to attach an example of my document.
sample.odt

What I would like to do is Indent each heading under STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS and have the text below that indented and wrapped. I don’t think it should be as complicated as the Chapter 6 information. I couldn’t find the Double Indent section, but used the regular indent before and after and it worked for that paragraph. There must be some way to have that apply to the entire document. Sorry for being unclear about what I was trying to do and having so much trouble figuring it out. Thanks for your help.

Have you seen LibreOffice Help on Indenting Paragraphs.

@LindaPro, I am adding two sample files in my answer. If not what do you want, please, format your example document with spaces to simulate the intended goal, and share it again. Thanks.

The second sample is almost exactly what I want. I just want a larger right margin. I looked at the Format>Paragraph and could see the indent. How would I apply this to the whole document, not just the one paragraph? Thanks for continuing with the help.

Thanks for your help. I think I am going to abandon this project for now. I need to watch some youtube help videos. I think I am trying to do something beyond basic use. I will work on this again as I have time. Again, I appreciate all your time and effort spent on this. Is there some way I can acknowledge your work in LibreOffice?

If the answer helped you, you can mark the up arrow (Upvote mark) that is on the left (to vote, you need to have karma of at least 5).

Maybe something like:

image description

You must select the Indents & Spacing tab, and set Before text: and After text: indents. And in the Borders tab, set a border under the paragraph.

Tested with LibreOffice 6.3.6.2 (x86); OS: Windows 6.1.

EDIT: Sample file with more left margin and heading style with negative value indent.

Sample file with paragraph style with left indent.

EDIT 2: The output of both sample files are the same in the paper. You need to choose one approach:

  1. Larger margins, with negative value indents in heading style (margins are set in menu Format - Page… - Page tab).
  2. Normal margins, with positive value indents in normal text paragraphs style .

Format one heading paragraph and one normal text paragraph. Press F11, choose New Style from Selection (it is enough if the cursor is in the paragraph), gave it a name, and OK. Do this once for headings and once for normal text. See Creating New Styles From Selections.

Then apply this new styles to your text. See Applying Styles in Fill Format Mode.
