Can't edit my word doc, why? [closed]

I download LibreOffice and did my newsletter using a word document. After I saved my file I went back to it to add something, but it won't allow me to do any editing? What's wrong?

It won't allow me to even view the document as a live doc. ??? I can't get into it to see that button or close etc. My only option is to shut my computer down without closing and lose it all.
