How to change background color of comment & is there any other feature like comment that can be hide-unhide On Click?

How to change background color of comment(ctrl+alt+c) & is there any other feature like comment that can be hide-unhide “on click”?
I found in options, it allows to change the bright yellow color of notes in Spreadsheet. Which option do i use to change bright yellow color of comment in Impress?

Please help.

Libreoffice 3.6 IMPRESS

@CyanCG

Thanks for replying CyanCG.

“…comments created with the “change tracking feature?” are assigned a color according
to the editor who produced the comment. This color can be changed on a per-user
basis”

I am the sole editor of the odp file, but how do i change the bg color of the comment box. It is so bright yellow. Hurts the eye.

“To answer your other question,… one can create text frames and create a style for
them to have them displayed as marginal notes. Different styles can be created for
different note colors and each style can be easily modified to toggle the
display/hide property.”

I am searching for what you said, but nothing relevant comes up or maybe i missed. Could you please provide link to this feature’s information on http://help.libreoffice.org.

I apologize, it seems there is indeed no way to manually change the background color of comments. From the Getting Started guide, version 3.4, page 98: “If more than one person edits the document, each author is automatically allocated a different background color”.

However, if you are the only editor of the presentation, my other suggestion is still valid: you can create floating text frames and write your comments in these. Give all of your comments the same style and, once you do not want them to be visible any longer, change the style.

In all relevant modules of LibreOffice, the comments created with the change tracking feature are assigned a color according to the editor who produced the comment. However, as I discovered much to my chagrin, this color cannot be changed according to a user’s preference.

To answer your other question, if I understand it correctly: yes, there is another way to add comments which can easily be displayed or hidden. At least in Writer (probably in Impress too), one can create text frames and create a style for them to have them displayed as marginal notes. Different styles can be created for different note colors and each style can be easily modified to toggle the display/hide property.

There you have it, two mechanisms to achieve what you want. If the comments are to be permanent and part of the document’s useful data, create them with frame styles. On the other hand, if the comments are only useful for the duration of the editing process, create them with the change tracking feature.

Hi Anon,

Looks like we’ve got at least two different questions here and a bit of confusion persisting, so let’s try to split things up and see if we can’t resolve this question!

  1. How can I change the bg color of a comment?
  1. is there any other feature like comment that can be hide-unhide “on click”?

Per one of @CyanCG’s answers:

At least in Writer (probably in Impress too), one can create text frames and create a style for them to have them displayed as marginal notes.

Does that seem to solve your question? Please let us know!

In above answer, "… the comments created with the change tracking feature … " made my thinking if these “comments” are little boxes appearing at the right side when using “record changes”.

I my set-up the recoded changes appear >red font strike through< when I delete a text, and >blue underlined< when I add a text.

Sometimes, I would like to have the deleted text being shown in a little box on the right side rather than keeping it still in between the other text. (Especially when I need to shorten the length of text to certain number of words etc.)

Question: Is there a setting that recorded changes (deletion, font changes etc) are visible in a litte box on the right side of the document? Or did I misunderstand the above answer?
