Ability to add Table & Text inside Rectangular Shape

Please add the ability to add Table & Text inside Rectangular Shape like MS word 2007 or the latest.

This is one of the reasons why I still need to go back to MS Word. In MS word you can add table and do whatever you want to do with with - which is super useful. I can even format the shape with no fill, no boarder and more. Why table inside a box? - With table inside a box, I can move the table wherever I want on the page.

Feature requests are off-topic here… but - it is already possible. Right-click the shape, and choose “Add textbox”, and that will be a different thing compared to what is used by default, when you double-click it to type.

Or - select the table (Table → Select → Table), then Insert → Frame → Frame... → OK.

Most users erroneously use Text Boxes for what they are not. A Text Box is simply a labelled drawing (graphical) object. It is limited to a decorative purpose.

Whenever you have a more sophisticated need, use a frame. A frame creates an independent sub-document inside which you can use all Writer features and complex formatting. And a frame can be controlled by a frame style (which drawing objects can’t). Such a frame style can be repeatedly applied on various occurrences, providing formatting consistency across the document. Just the same as a paragraph style shares formatting on paragraphs.

A frame style can specify a relative position of the frame relative to the location in text where it is anchored. Thus, the frame always appears where you expect it after changes, despite text reflow. But, you must refrain from interfering lanually with this automatic layout , i.e. don’t move or resize the frame with the mouse.
