Can someone explain why Calc won’t replace “Fax:” It will replace “Fax” and it will also replace “:” so why won’t it replace them together?
For me it works without any problems.

Perhaps you have a space somewhere in the cell? Can you upload a small sample file that shows the problem?

Thanks for replying. I went thru and did it all before I posted. It also wouldn’t find the parenthesis for (area code) in phone numbers, so I just kept changing the area code. I was hoping to learn something for future use.

Is regular expressions checked? Then parenthesus form capture groups unless quoted and a colon may be used like :digits:
Only as set expression, e.g. [:digits:] and a single trailing : doesn’t do anything special.
I wonder if Fax: and () were in the formatting of the cells? Attached sheet will not find those nor the leading 0.
