Can't Unselect a Metafile

I imported a .dxf file. It’s really hard to do anything because it keeps defaulting to the “Pan” cursor (with the four arrows), and it says “Metafile selected” at the bottom left of the screen. Can I explode the drawing? Or otherwise “UnMetafile” it? I’ve hit the ESC key over and over, and it doesn’t change anything.

Can you please upload the file here so someone can look at it? Thank you.

@Hrbrgr
Thanks for looking at my question.
I uploaded the file on the forum. I’m attaching it here also.

Right-click on the sketch and choose “Break” from the context menu.

With me:
Version: 7.3.3.2 (x64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: d1d0ea68f081ee2800a922cac8f79445e4603348
CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19044; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: de-DE (de_DE); UI: de-DE
Calc: CL

“Break” seems to have solved the problem. Thanks so much, @Hrbrgr !

Sometimes it is also called “Ungroup”.
Ungroup and Break is the opposite of “Group”.

:+1: Ahh, I see. Thanks.

I think there is a difference between Ungroup and Break. From experience, Break will break a Curve into its constituent lines, while Ungroup just ungroups existing groups.

In Draw, draw a rectangle, click Shape > Convert > To Curve then click Shape > Break and you will end up with four separate lines. Do the same with an oval and you end up with a number of individual Bezier curves. The opposite of Break is Connect, so select the separate curves and click Shape > Connect
