Change the default font and size in writer

Can I change the default font in writer? Right now it is sans seriff, I want to change to ARIAL.
Can I change the default size of the font as well?

Of course that’s possible. Tools - Options - LibreOffice Writer - Basic Fonts (Western) for font only, modify the Default paragraph style to change anything you want (Font tab of the dialog box).
